Die Wunde (The Wound)
Urban Intervention at Complutense Campus, Madrid
120 printed posters
65 x 90 cm. each.
2015

This project is an urban intervention, which took place at the Campus of Ciudad Universitaria in Madrid. It was held in December 2015, just seven days before the last general elections held in Spain. It consisted in putting up 120 copies of the same poster printed on paper, using numerous supports for free advertising ads placed near the Faculties. This poster was an appropriation of Nazi propaganda from the World War II, where we can see a Nazi soldier in a glorious and triumphant attitude, surrounded by a warlike glorification atmosphere. Based on an original German military poster, this work is a reinterpretation where symbols and colours of the National Socialist Party have been replaced by the Eurozone logo.

The message of this proposal is very straightforward. It refers to the absolute hegemony of the present German government within the European Union, and to the continent’s conflicts caused by insisting on rigid austerity measures.
