Synthetic statue

As part of the event, “NIT NIU”, which took place in Sant Vicenç’s cove of Pollença (Mallorca), Larrea’s proposal consisted in recreating a cinematographic fiction, embodying a mythical image that stays in our memory: the Statue of Liberty half-buried in the beach.
The remains of this monument, which has been converted by an entire nationalistic sensitivity into an icon by excellence of the western culture, lay in ruins before the audience, who were able to identify immediately the famous ending of the science fiction film, “The Planet of the Apes”. In a hypothetical distant future, this statue surges as an imprint of the past, the emblem of a race that has disappeared and has been destroyed by war; proving in this way, the abuses of power that man has exerted in all eras.
